I have a Freemont pen and the pen tip retracts when writing and won't extend back down. The refill is screwed in all the way and the barrel is down as far as it goes. Can something be broken inside?

Question:
I was given a Freemont as a gift and really like the feel of it but the pen retracts as i write causing me to stop and extend it again to continue. How do I correct this and how do I get the pen open to access the refill?
Submitted by Billy on April 25, 2019
Answer:
Hello. The top half of the pen unscrews and the pen opens up, basically in half. If the pen's tip is retracting it could be that the barrel is not completely screwed shut. It is also how you would access the refill.
